Memories of running like crazy in the fields 🌾, rose petal soups 🌹, constructions of branch huts, walks in the scented undergrowth forest 🍂. All these instants of being in contact with nature provide a breathtaking amount of energy. I sincerely hope you have experienced them too ❣️

So, while sitting behind my potter's wheel, I call back upon these childhood pleasures. My hands wrap the clay with just the right firmness that allows me to centre it and then I give way to softness to create an original object. Then the patience, the firing, the discovery and sometimes real true hapiness dances when I open the kiln.

• Why a blog on an online ceramics shop? •

This blog is born from the simple desire to share my experiences with you. Except it you ever come to my workshop, I have very few chances of sharing with you the workshop’s life and talking to you about what inspires the collections you can find on Elephantom.Design's handmade ceramics e-shop.

I wondered what you might appreciate to learn and see when visiting Elephantom.Design. My first desire, when I create, is to accompany you on a journey to discover your senses. OBSERVE, TRAVEL and FEEL are the 3 guides of Elephantom.Design's handcrafted creations. I really want to share these moments in the workshop with you. This blog contains the stories of the Elephantom.Design brand. I also talk about inspirations, about the workshop and of course about pottery. I hope it will be a success story in a few years because my goal today is to make a living from selling ceramics that I have lovingly crafted with my own hands.

Above all, I hope that this blog will be an opportunity to connect, so do not hesitate to write a few comments. 😄

• Brief overview about the " Elephantom World " blog •

Our story: more than the project of a ceramist, Elephantom.Design is a couple's project

We all have dreams : "One day, I will learn to play the guitar" or "One day, I will leave this job to open the restaurant of my dreams". I’m sure we all have these kinds of dreams, which usually come up during holidays or when you let yourself imagine your future. Between commuting, work and sleep, time offer flies by and it is difficult to really take these dreams seriously and to eventually decide to take the plunge. That's the way it was for me. And one day, you just know it's time to take this big decision. That's how Elephantom.Design was born. The need to change my life’s trajectory and to transform my passion for clay crafting into a professional activity that I carry out with deep passion.

Elephantom.Design refers to an art of living combining craftsmanship with calm and modernity. As you can imagine, behind the handmade ceramic creations, there is a ceramist, me, Aurélie, but I am not alone in this project! Hidden in the shadows, there is the one who has been supporting me and sharing my life for more than 15 years, Rodolphe, my husband 👫, my support 💖. Without him, all this would not have been possible.

In this project, we each have our own role. I imagine, craft, take pictures, keep the online shop updated, wrap your orders, send them to you and I come to meet you here and on social networks. Rodolphe is a nice mix between "Mac Gyver", "Nicky Larson" and Bradley Cooper in « Limitless ». He is the jack of all trade :

• • The financial management behind the scene, that's him
  • The implementation of a secure payment system for the online store, that’s also him
  • Building the ceramic studio, that was also him
  • Supplier management, that's him again.
  • Negotiating the equipment for the studio, still him

And the list goes on and on.

Life in the studio: the story of the artwork creation steps

I still remember my grandmother’s old-fashioned porcelain plates service. Fortunately, since then, ceramic art has evolved in a good way. Today it is a modern and trendy way to decorate our home interiors.

I quickly discovered that pottery-making by hand is a relaxing, almost a meditative activity. In contact with clay, the race of life is put on hold, as if the object being crafted was absorbing everything around us. Ceramic is one of the only materials that allows the artist to come into direct contact with it and its never ending possibilities. Elephantom.Design inspires you and invites you to cultivate your sense of wonder. Each handcrafted collection builds a new universe of its own : novel textures to observe and touch, providing a unique interpretation of a natural phenomenon. My aim is to express this universe through clay, raising fascination and offering you the opportunity to explore a full range of sensations. Art is as multifaceted as the nature that surrounds us.
