• Dual roles for this nice ceramic gift box by Elephantom.design •

Two very different styles for these handmade porcelain creations that perfectly blend

On the one side, the photophore from the Sea Ice collection, on the other a magnificent marbled tray from the Hurricane collection.

The candle jar is thrown on the potter's wheel using white porcelain. After a few days of pre-drying, the porcelain is manually texturized to obtain the beautiful 3D patterns evoking the North Pole sea ice. Its slow drying then continues in a humidity chamber. It will be necessary to wait several weeks to avoid any risk of cracking.

The marbled tray was obtained by shaping a porcelain plate. Part of the porcelain is white while the second half is tinted to obtain this beautiful black and white marbled effect. Once shaped, this tray also undergoes its drying process.

Once dry, and not until the kiln is completely filled, the first firing of the ceramics begins. With a kiln temperature of 950°C, it will take no less than two days before the kiln can be reopened. A transparent glaze is then applied to the inside of the photophore while its outside and the tray are left unglazed. Then comes their second firing, this time at a higher temperature. The highest temperature of the firing is 1250°C and after another two days of patience, the handcrafted porcelain creations come out sturdy and ready for their new life with you.

By choosing an Elephantom.Design handcrafted ceramic, you make the choice to offer a true handcrafted creation that has been made with the heart by Aurélie in her workshop. Don't hesitate any longer, these ceramics have a story to tell.
